In the wake of the Supreme Spiritual Council meeting that began on February 20, 2024, a date for the re-opening and Blessing of Muron was announced. The Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin will open its doors again this fall after 8 years of major renovations, with a grand re-consecration service, led by His Holiness Karekin II.
These historic events are scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29, 2024, at Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
On October 4, 2024, during a special service at St. Vartan Cathedral in New York City, the newly consecrated Holy Muron will be distributed to all the pastors in the Eastern Diocese. And, on Sunday, October 13, 2024, a special Blessing of Water Service will take place at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy in all Diocesan Churches.
Therefore, we encourage everyone to join us on Sunday, October 13, 2024, to witness this special Blessing of the Water Service with the newly consecrated Holy Oil from the Mother See and be a part of this once a seven-year historical event.
PS: The last time the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin underwent such major renovations was in the middle of the 19th century. And the last time of blessing of Muron took place was in 2015.
