GREEN SUNDAY

April 14, 2024

Today, on this beautiful Green Sunday, we celebrate a very special day in our Armenian Church calendar—a day that breathes life, renewal, and hope into our spirits. Green Sunday is not just a tradition; it is a profound reminder of the vibrant life God promises us, a celebration of renewal, just as the earth renews itself in the spring.

As we are surrounded by greenery, let’s allow the color green to remind us of something vital—green is the color of growth, the color of spring, and most importantly, the color of new beginnings. In the Book of Isaiah, Chapter 43, verse 19, Lord tells us, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

What a powerful declaration! God is always at work in our lives, doing new things and making ways where there seems to be no way. On Green Sunday, we are reminded that just as the earth springs forth with new life, so can our lives be transformed by the touch of God’s hand.

Think about a seed as it lies in the ground during the winter. It’s cold, it’s buried, and it’s isolated. But come spring, that seed bursts forth into a new life. It doesn’t stay small; it grows, it thrives, it becomes what it was always meant to be.

Many of us feel like that seed sometimes. We go through winters in our lives—seasons of loneliness, doubt, and hardship. But take heart—your spring is coming, your life is about to burst forth in growth and beauty! Embrace this new beginning with open arms and a faithful heart.
