COOKING WITH JUSTIN

On Saturday, January 27, 2024, some 40 members and friends of St. John Armenian Church of Milwaukee were treated to a culinary class presented by Justin Aprahamian, a winner of the James Beard Award and owner of the prestigious Sanford’s Restaurant in Milwaukee. 

Justin demonstrated the preparation of Armenian Spiced Pumpkin Soup adorned with toasted pumpkin seeds and caramelized pumpkin.  He fastidiously explained the importance of taking the time to layer the ingredients to create the rich flavors embodied in the soup. 

The group also enjoyed learning general tricks of the trade that they can use in their own kitchens at home.  Everyone had the opportunity to savor the flavors of the soup and take a copy of the recipe to try at home.  Justin’s easy-going personality and sense of humor added to the sheer enjoyment of the class.
